A resetter (also called an adjustment program or WIC Reset utility) is a software tool that resets the internal waste ink counter inside your Epson L3150’s EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory).
Epson actively pushes firmware updates (versions up to 2.8.x and higher) that patch older resetting methods. If you have updated your printer’s firmware via the Epson driver updater, an old resetter will fail with errors like: “Communication error” or “Check the printer model.”
Older programs might corrupt the EEPROM, turning your L3150 into an expensive paperweight. The 2023-2025 versions include checksum verification, reducing the risk of bricking.
Unlike older cartridge-based printers, the L3150 uses a tank system. However, it still has a hidden maintenance box (a waste ink pad) that absorbs excess ink during cleaning cycles. Epson programs the printer’s internal counter to stop working after a certain number of pages or cleanings—not because the printer is broken, but because the pad is theoretically full.
In reality, many users find the pad is only partially saturated. Using a resetter (also called an adjustment program or keygen) resets this counter to zero, allowing the printer to function again without sending it to an expensive service center.
The safest method is taking your printer to an authorized Epson service center. They use proprietary updated software. However, this costs money ($30–$60 USD).
