What exactly changed in this version?

The previous Platinum model used standard Cree LEDs. The v9049 upgrades to a proprietary "Photon Drive" chipset featuring 12 high-density 3570-mil chips (6 per side).

We pulled the pump and put it next to a v9047 (previous gen). Three major changes:

The biggest complaint about H4 LEDs is the glare they produce for oncoming traffic. The updated v9049 introduces a precision-machined, 3D knurled heat sink that shifts the vertical light cutoff. Independent testing shows a 40% reduction in above-horizon stray light compared to the previous version.
