Cause: Wrong patch folder path or incorrect config syntax.
Fix: Ensure patches/ is directly in the root. Check your config has patch_folder = "patches" with no extra slashes.
Inside the extracted folder, you’ll see a patches/ folder. Copy that entire folder into your main Xenia directory (where xenia.exe lives).
Just because a patch file is in the folder doesn't mean it is active. You often need to edit the patch file to turn it "on."
Note: Some patches are mutually exclusive. Do not enable a "Skip Intro" patch and a "60 FPS" patch if they modify the same memory address, as this may crash the game.

The Xenia team is experimenting with a feature tentatively called “Live Patch Fetching.” In a future Canary build, the emulator may automatically check the community repository on launch and download the most recent xenia patches updated for the game you are about to play, without you needing to manually extract ZIP files.
Until then, bookmark the patch repository and check it monthly.
Xenia doesn’t work like a traditional console. While the main emulator (the xenia.exe file) receives regular updates via GitHub, many game-specific fixes are delivered through .toml configuration patches and patch_files inside the xenia.config.toml file.
