Bios Password: Vivid E9

A: Yes. The BIOS password only prevents entry into BIOS settings. The machine will still boot into the Windows ultrasound application normally. You only need the password if you must change hardware boot order, replace the motherboard, or recover the OS.

Try these first:

| Password | Notes | |----------------|--------------------------------| | GEHCS | Most common for older Vivid E9 | | VIVID | Sometimes used | | PASSWORD | Rarely | | admin | For certain BIOS versions |

⚠️ Newer motherboards (e.g., Intel DH61CR, DQ77MK) often use a unique per-unit password.

On a standard PC, resetting the BIOS by shorting the CMOS jumper or removing the battery works. On the Vivid E9:

Before attempting complex reset procedures, you must try the factory defaults. Over the Vivid E9’s production run (circa 2008–2018), GE used several standard passwords.

Try these credentials exactly as written (case-sensitive):

How to enter: Restart the Vivid E9. Immediately press the Delete key, F2, or F10 repeatedly (watch for the "Press __ to enter Setup" prompt—usually F2 on Intel motherboards). When the blue BIOS screen appears, enter the password.

If none of these work, the password has been changed by a previous biomedical engineer or a GE field service engineer.
