Many users wish to relocate the cache folder to a faster SSD or a larger HDD. As of the latest stable builds (early 2025), Vita3K does not support a native “relocate workbin” option in the GUI.
However, advanced users can use symbolic links (Windows) or symlinks (Linux/macOS):

In the context of Vita3K, a workbin file is essentially a decrypted firmware kernel or module file.
The PlayStation Vita operating system relies on encrypted modules (often found within firmware updates or game cartridges) to function. When an emulator like Vita3K tries to run a game, it often needs to access specific system modules (.skprx or .suprx files) to emulate the console's environment accurately. However, these files are encrypted on official Sony firmware. Vita3K cannot read encrypted files directly; it needs them to be decrypted first. A workbin file represents the "working" or "decrypted" version of a specific module that the emulator can actually load into memory.
Vita3K is under active development (new builds almost daily). Sometimes a new emulator version changes the shader or caching format. After updating, games may crash or display graphical glitches. Warning: Do not symlink the workbin to a
Fix: Delete the workbin folder entirely. Older compiled shaders are often incompatible with new emulator builds. Fresh generation fixes most post-update crashes.
