For 3D finishing, Raster (parallel lines) is generally safer for wood grain, preventing tear-out. After your 3D Roughing pass, the part is covered in "fuzzies." Do not run your finishing pass yet. Use a "Contour" toolpath to cut out the perimeter of the job first (leaving tabs). This removes the waste material, so your fine bit doesn't snap trying to cut through loose chips.
