The original doujin soft game is finicky. Depending on whether you are running the untranslated version, the Mirror Moon translation, or a pre-patched EXE, the save location changes.
As of 2026, Type-Moon has announced Tsukihime: The Other Side of Red Garden (the Far Side routes: Akiha, Hisui, Kohaku). A major question is:
Will saves from A piece of blue glass moon transfer?
Based on Type-Moon’s history (Fate/stay night Realta Nua), it is likely:
Nevertheless, keep your savedata from the first remake. It may unlock a special prologue scene in Red Garden. tsukihime save file
| OS | Path |
|----|------|
| Windows (XP–11) | %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Tsukihime\ or inside the game folder itself (save\ or tsukihime.ksd) |
| Linux (Wine) | ~/.wine/drive_c/users/[user]/Saved Games/Tsukihime/ |
| Mac (Wine/CrossOver) | Similar to Linux; inside the .app or drive_c |
Many older repacks keep saves in the game's root directory as files like
save?.dat,global.sav, ortsukihime.ksd.

The original Tsukihime uses a localized saving system. It does not typically store saves in your Windows "Documents" folder unless you specifically installed it there. The original doujin soft game is finicky
Some translation patches (like the original Mirror Moon patch) tie save compatibility to the arc.nsa file version. If you get a “file corrupted” error, your save file version does not match the game version. Download saves specifically matched to your patch version.
Some repacks require starting a new game and saving once to generate the correct folder structure.
Assuming you have downloaded a Tsukihime.zip file from a fan forum (like Beast’s Lair or Reddit), follow these steps:
Step 1: Backup your current saves.
Do not lose your progress. Copy the original savedata folder to your desktop. Nevertheless, keep your savedata from the first remake
Step 2: Locate the game directory.
Right-click your Tsukihime.exe shortcut and select "Open file location."
Step 3: Overwrite files.
Drag the downloaded .sav files into the folder. If asked to overwrite, click "Yes."
Step 4: Set "Read Only" (For Windows 8/10 users).
This is a pro tip. Sometimes the game ignores new saves. Right-click the savedata folder > Properties > Uncheck "Read-only" > Apply to all subfolders.
Step 5: Launch the game. Load a save from slot 1. If the text is garbled (mojibake), you are using the wrong regional encoding. Restart your PC with Japanese locale or use Locale Emulator.
