Tableau — Desktop Download With Product Key Verified

You can embed the product key during installation using MSI transforms or the bootstrapper:

If you clone a VM with Tableau Desktop already installed and verified, the product key will break. You must run tableau.exe /deactivate on the source machine before cloning.

When you click Activate, Tableau contacts Tableau’s activation servers via HTTPS (port 443). The server checks: tableau desktop download with product key verified

If all checks pass, the server returns an activation token. Tableau writes this license data to a local file (e.g., licence.lic or registry entries on Windows). The software then unlocks the full feature set.

Step 5: (Optional) Download Tableau Prep Builder If your license includes Tableau Prep (often bundled with Desktop Professional), download it from the same portal. Prep is used for data cleaning and shaping.
