Smi Mptool Sm32x Sm34x Smi Mass Production Tool Extra Quality -

In the MPTool GUI, go to Setting (password is usually empty or 320 or 1111). Then adjust these:

| Setting | Recommended Value | Why? | |---------|------------------|------| | Scan Bad Block | High Level + Low Level (or "Original Bad") | Finds factory + new bad blocks | | Erase All Block | Yes (when possible) | Clears hidden corrupt data | | Write CID | Yes | Corrects capacity descriptors | | Pretest | Erase Good Block Only (or "Erase All Block") | Thorough cell reset | | ECC Bit | Auto or 8-12 bits | Balances error correction & capacity | | Enable DDR | Only if flash chip supports it | Increases speed, but unstable if not supported |

For Extra Quality, never use "Auto" capacity. Instead: In the MPTool GUI, go to Setting (password

Result: The controller has a massive pool of spare blocks. When consumer drives slow down after filling up, your Extra Quality drive maintains speed.

| Feature | Standard Production | Extra Quality Production | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Scan Type | Quick scan (reads only block 0) | Full surface scan + Read Retry | | Bad Block Handling | Remaps bad blocks; keeps weak blocks | Aborts weak blocks; replaces with spare | | ECC Level | Standard 24-bit/1K | Aggressive 40-bit/1K + XOR redundancy | | Resulting Speed | High speed | Slightly reduced (due to overhead) | | Data Retention | Standard (1-2 years unpowered) | Extended (5-10 years unpowered) | | Yield Rate | 98% | 75-80% | Result: The controller has a massive pool of spare blocks

Step-by-step configuration:

  • Under "Special" or "Extra Setting" tab (if available):
  • Under "Capacity Setting":
  • You cannot have both. Here is a decision matrix for when to use Extra Quality: Under "Special" or "Extra Setting" tab (if available):

  • Avoid Extra Quality (Use Normal):

  • Pro Tip for SM34x: For UFS chips, always use Extra Quality. UFS has built-in wear-leveling that interacts poorly with lazy scanning. The high-level format ensures the UFS controller's FTL (Flash Translation Layer) maps correctly.

"Extra Quality" is not a button in MPTOOL. It is a philosophy and a set of aggressive parameters that ensure each produced drive performs 20-30% better and lasts 2x longer than standard factory drives.

To use the MPTool correctly, you must understand your target hardware.
