The introduction of RDE 3.1.7 forced a seismic shift in engine calibration and exhaust after-treatment systems. Release Notes for RDE 3

Manufacturers moved from lean-burn, high-NOx strategies to balanced EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and retarded injection timing. This reduced NOx but often increased fuel consumption—a trade-off that RDE 3.1.7 exposed. Bug Fixes:
