The DLC meant little without gameplay fixes. Patch 1.16 was the software update that changed how the game played. For veterans of the series, this patch is remembered as the moment PES 2014 finally felt "finished."

When PES 2014 launched, it was barebones. The revolutionary "M.A.S.S." (Motion Animation Stability System) was choppy, online modes were unplayable for weeks, and the lack of licensed leagues hurt casual players. Over the next eight months, Konami released incremental patches (1.01 through 1.15) and data packs (DLC 1.00 to 6.00) that slowly stabilized the game.
But it was the Summer 2014 update—DLC 7.00 (Data Pack 7) and Patch 1.16—that finally delivered the game Konami promised at E3 2013. This was the final official update before the team shifted focus entirely to PES 2015. The DLC meant little without gameplay fixes
The original release had a notorious "floaty keeper" problem—goalkeepers would parry shots directly to attackers or stand still during one-on-ones. Patch 1.16 adjusted reaction times. Keepers now spread themselves better on breakaways and use their feet for close-range saves more effectively.
