Oscam Free Server File
| Issue | Description | | :--- | :--- | | Extreme Lag (Freezing) | Free servers are often overloaded with 200+ users trying to share a single 1-card slot. Expect image freezing every few seconds. | | Low Resolution (ECM Time) | The time between a channel changing and the picture appearing (ECM time) can be 3-5 seconds on free servers. Paid servers aim for <0.3 seconds. | | Unreliable Uptime | Free servers come and go. The admin might get bored, shut down the PC, or move to a paid model without warning. | | Security Risks | You are connecting your home IP address to a random stranger’s server. While rare, malicious admins could theoretically see your traffic. | | Limited Channel Selection | Free servers usually only clear basic packages (e.g., BISS keys or low-tier local packages), never the premium sports or movie channels. |
| Risk | Explanation | |------|-------------| | Legal | Fines, lawsuits, or criminal charges (in EU, US, UK, etc.). | | Malware | Unknown servers can send malicious code or exploit your device. | | Privacy | Server owner sees your IP, channel list, and can log all your activity. | | Unreliable | Free servers freeze constantly, have high latency, or disappear. | | ISP issues | Your ISP may detect card sharing traffic and terminate your service. | | No updates | When providers change encryption keys (ECM), free servers rarely update fast. |
On the client device, add a newcamd reader in its OSCam config (oscam.server): Oscam Free Server
[reader]
label = free_server
protocol = newcamd
device = 192.168.1.100,10000
key = 0102030405060708091011121314
user = client1
password = pass123
group = 1
inactivitytimeout = 30
reconnecttimeout = 60
Restart client OSCam. The Readers tab should show “connected” and “OK” for the server.
Find your reader’s device path (ls -la /dev/ttyUSB* or pcsc_scan): | Issue | Description | | :--- |
[reader]
label = my_card
protocol = pcsc
device = 0
caid = 0963
detect = cd
mhz = 357
cardmhz = 357
group = 1
emmcache = 1,3,2
blockemm-unknown = 1
saveemm-unknown = 1
For a serial/physical reader on a receiver, protocol could be internal or mouse.
Warning: Never pay for a "Free Server." If a forum asks for a registration fee or a "donation" to access the free list, it is a scam. Real free servers do not ask for money. On the client device , add a newcamd
Because OSCam is open source, it supports virtually every encryption system in existence: VideoGuard (Sky), Nagravision, Irdeto, Conax, Viaccess, and Mediaguard.
In the context of OSCam, a “free server” usually means one of two things:
