While not free data, using Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 or a free tier of ProtonVPN can bypass some censorship but does not give you free internet.

If you download a Handler version (and many still do), you’ll notice extra features not found in the official app:

| Myth | Fact | |-------|------| | Opera Software created Handler versions. | False. Opera has no association with Handler APKs. They are unofficial mods. | | Handler apps give unlimited lifetime free internet. | False. They exploit temporary bugs that get patched quickly. | | It works on all carriers and countries. | False. Effectiveness varies wildly; most fail on major carriers like Verizon, Vodafone, or Airtel after a short time. | | It’s legal to bypass paid data. | False. In most nations, deliberately avoiding data charges violates theft of service laws. |

The short answer: No.

While the promise of free internet is incredibly tempting, the risks—malware, legal trouble, instability, and privacy invasion—far outweigh the benefits. Even if you find a Handler that works today, it may fail tomorrow, and you might have already compromised your device in the process.

If you still decide to try, only do so on a spare device with no personal accounts, no banking apps, and a disposable SIM card. Better yet, focus on legal alternatives that offer safe, low-cost browsing.

Advanced handlers allow users to input "payloads"—strings of code that mimic requests to allowed hosts. The carrier sees the payload host (e.g., "m.google.com") but actually delivers the requested webpage. This is akin to smuggling data under a false label.

| Technique | Claimed Method | |-----------|----------------| | Proxy chaining | Route traffic through a custom proxy that masks data usage. | | Header manipulation | Modify User-Agent or Host headers to appear as a zero-rated service. | | Local VPN / HTTP injector integration | Use payloads to exploit carrier misconfigurations. |

Reality: Mobile carriers have largely patched such vulnerabilities. Most working “handlers” today are either scams or malware.
