The most critical fix. Rather than force you to install insecure legacy QuickTime, the patched versions convert the proprietary .mov files into modern .mp4 or .webm on-the-fly. Some versions even include a local VLC embedded player that reads the original video data off the disc image.
For the video interviews and music videos, the patched community recommends using DXWnd (a windowing tool for legacy apps). The patched version of the collection includes pre-configured .ini files that trick the old Iron Maiden launcher into thinking it is running on Windows 98, redirecting the QuickTime calls to modern codecs.

The most elegant solution came from the ScummVM project (a virtual machine for classic point-and-click games). The "Eddie's Head" minigame was effectively a hidden game engine. Patching Enhanced CDs exists in a grey area. The original software is not sold commercially anymore, and the patches do not bypass copy protection (most Iron Maiden Enhanced CDs had none beyond basic file obfuscation). The community effort is explicitly for owners of original discs who wish to experience the material as intended—not for redistribution of copyrighted audio or artwork.
The original CDs launched full-screen DOS-box-like environments. The patched collection wraps these executables in modern compatibility layers. For Windows 10/11, patches using DxWnd force the old Maiden menus to run windowed, scaling correctly to 1080p or 1440p without crashing.
