Step 3: Read the Original BIOS (Critical Backup) Open NeoProgrammer. Detect the chip (Winbond W25Q128BV). Click Read IC. This takes 2 minutes. Save the file as backup_original.bin. Do not skip this. If you corrupt the chip, your laptop is dead. Before proceeding, you will need: Step 1: Locate

Step 4: Patch the Password Open the backup file in a hex editor (like HxD). The HP ProBook 440 G6 stores the administrator password in a specific block. Search for the hexadecimal string: FF FF FF FF FF 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00. If you see data instead of FFs, that’s your password hash.

Alternatively, use the automated HPUnlocker tool (search for "HP BIOS Password Unlock Tool v2.0" – a community exclusive). Drag your backup_original.bin onto the tool. It will generate a patched.bin file that zeroes out the password sector.

Step 5: Flash the Patched BIOS Back in NeoProgrammer, press Erase IC (takes 30 seconds). Then Blank Check (must say "Chip is Blank"). Finally, Write IC and load your patched.bin.

Step 6: Reassemble and Boot Remove the programmer, reconnect the main battery, and close the laptop. Power on. The BIOS password prompt will be GONE. Enter BIOS immediately (F10) and set a new admin password to secure it again.
