The GTR2 Anniversary Patch is an unofficial community-driven update that restores, modernizes, and enhances the classic SimBin / ISI racing sim GTR2 (2006). It preserves the original gameplay while improving compatibility with modern hardware, fixing long-standing bugs, and adding quality-of-life features that make the game playable and stable on current systems.

Step 1: Base Installation
Install GTR2 outside of Program Files (x86) to avoid Windows UAC issues. (Example: C:\Games\GTR2).

Step 3: Download the Patch
Go to the official GTR2 Enhanced Discord or the RaceDepartment page (now Overtake.gg). Look for file GTR2_Anniv_Patch_v1.1_Full.exe. Warning: Do not download from random forums; fake “virus” versions exist.
Step 4: Backup

Run the patch installer. Point it to C:\Games\GTR2. Select your install type:

Navigate to GTR2/Config/Anniversary_Patch.ini. This new file lets you toggle:

Run GTR2.exe as Administrator. You will see a new splash screen: “GTR2 – Anniversary Edition.”
