In the golden age of PC gaming (circa 2001–2002), two titans dominated very different corners of the market. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was a neon-soaked love letter to 80s excess, complete with Tommy Vercetti, synthwave, and open-world mayhem. Meanwhile, Monolith Productions’ Aliens vs. Predator 2 (2001) was the gold standard for asymmetrical multiplayer horror, pitting Colonial Marines, Alien drones, and Predator hunters against each other in claustrophobic corridors.
But for two decades, a persistent, malformed rumor has haunted modding forums: the existence of an unreleased crossover level—informally called "Vice City Nightmare" .
Despite the failure, the legend of "GTA Vice City Aliens vs Predator 2" lives on. You can still find YouTube videos from 2009 titled "GTA Vice City Predator Mod Gameplay" with 240p resolution and Linkin Park playing in the background.
The dream eventually became reality in a different way. In 2010, a modder named Junior_Djjr created a tool called "Vice City – Aliens vs Predator: The New Era," a total conversion that actually worked without crashes. It used a cleaned-up map and a custom script that allowed the Alien to turn any pedestrian into an egg. You can still find this version on ModDB.
Furthermore, the spiritual successor exists in GTA V. Today, you can join FiveM servers where you fight the Predator in Paleto Bay. But purists will always argue that the chaotic, low-poly charm of Vice City combined with the gritty horror of AvP2 was the peak of crossover potential.
Meanwhile, a Yautja—call him “Jade-Blade” for his signature wrist-blades coated in green luminescent toxin—has been tracking the same ship across the Caribbean. He lands his cloaked vessel on the roof of the unfinished Ocean View Hotel. His mission: a ritual hunt. The Xenomorphs are worthy prey. But Vice City’s criminals? They are unworthy, noisy vermin. He begins culling them for sport.
His first kill: a biker from the Mitch Baker gang, ripped spine-first through a rooftop. His second: a lawyer for Ken Rosenberg, skinned and hung from the Ferris wheel at the docks. The police think it’s a cartel execution. Tommy knows better when he finds one of his own lieutenants—gutted, flayed, and hung from a ceiling fan with a cryptic, rune-carved disc left behind.
