Before you flash, lower your expectations. Due to Samsung’s refusal to release the source code for the Unisoc audio HAL, all custom ROMs for the SM-T280 share three permanent bugs:

  • GApps (Google Apps): Most custom ROMs do not come with the Play Store pre-installed. You must download a GApps package (ARM, 7.1 or 8.1 depending on the ROM) from OpenGApps or NikGApps.

    • You may see "GSI" (Generic System Image) ROMs promising Android 10/11/12 for the SM-T280. Avoid them for daily use. Why? The T280 has a 32-bit processor with only 1.5GB RAM. Android Go (optimized for low RAM) doesn’t exist for this chip. Running full Android 10 will cause constant app redraws, and the UI will lag severely. Before you flash, lower your expectations

    Stick to Android 7.1 (Nougat) or 9.0 (Pie). This hardware simply cannot handle modern Android versions smoothly. GApps (Google Apps): Most custom ROMs do not
