Developed as a XP alternative to the Wang/Kodak controls for Windows XP. The Microsoft download page for this dll states the "Supported Operating Systems" is Windows XP, and that "Windows Image Acquisition Automation Library v2.0 is only supported on Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed." The dll relies on GDI+ available under Windows XP. I have also received reports the dll can also be used on Windows 2000 systems, though possibly only those with the latest service packs. Developers wanting to add image and image device control functionality to their applications will and to check out this new, redistributable dll provided by Microsoft intended to replace functionality introduced with the Wang and Kodak image controls provided in older versions of Windows. Prior to the introduction of Windows XP, the Wang/Kodak control and libraries formed part of the operating system installation (were not redistributable) and provided the only inherent means to offer imaging display and manipulation without relying on third-party controls. However, Kodak Imaging for Windows program and the related controls (ImgScan.ocx, ImgAdmin.ocx, ImgEdit.ocx, and ImgThumb.ocx) are not included with Windows XP. The readme file indicates the Windows Image Acquisition Library v2.0 is only designed to support the PNG, BMP, JPG, GIF and TIFF image formats. It should not be relied upon to support other formats, though they may appear to be supported depending on system configuration. The download contains the dll, help files, installation instructions and a rash of assorted VB-based demos (and no, it does not contain the image shown ... that's my desktop background): Frosthaven Hive Guide -These are the tactical focus. Nodes usually possess the Spawn ability. Every round, if a Node isn't stunned or killed, it will vomit out more bugs. Score: 8/10 If you actually wanted a class guide for a class named “Hive” (which doesn’t exist in official Frosthaven—perhaps you meant Hive as a custom class or a different game), just let me know and I’ll adjust. The H.I.V.E. (Humanoid Integrated Variable Entity), commonly referred to by its unlock symbol Prism, is one of the most complex and rewarding advanced classes in Frosthaven . It operates as a "Modular Summoner," using a unique mechanic where the character can "transfer" its consciousness between various robotic summons on the battlefield, changing its own stats and abilities based on which "Mode" it currently occupies. Core Mechanics Modes and Transfers: The H.I.V.E. plays multiple summon cards that stay in its active area. By using "Transfer" abilities, you move your character token onto a summon. While "merged" with a summon, you inherit that summon's specific Mode bonuses (e.g., permanent Shield, increased Range, or Retaliate). The "Summon Swarm": Unlike traditional summoners, your robots are often low-HP but highly specialized. You must balance keeping them alive with using them as sacrificial tools or temporary vessels for your power. Versatility: This class can be built as a high-DPS ranged attacker, a sturdy melee tank, or a utility-focused support, often switching roles mid-scenario. Key Build Strategies frosthaven hive guide Two primary playstyles emerge based on player preference and party composition: The Ranged "Battery" Build: Focus: Uses summons like the Machine Bolter and Arcing Generator to rain down multi-target attacks from a distance. Key Combo: Start in Machine Bolter form. Use Focus: Utilizes the Dampening Unit and Sledge Driver for high Shield and survivability. Key Combo: Combine the Tank minion's permanent Shield 1 with the Shield drone summon to achieve a constant Shield 2, allowing the H.I.V.E. to soak hits for squishier allies like the Deathwalker. Strengths and Weaknesses Strengths Weaknesses Adaptability: Can change from a tank to a sniper by spending a single card. Complexity: Requires intense planning and "thinking several moves ahead". These are the tactical focus Action Economy: Can generate a massive amount of attacks per round through summons. Vulnerability: Summons are susceptible to Retaliate and AOE attacks, which can wipe your engine. Sustainability: Has tools to recur summons and redirect damage to itself to save them. Low Mobility: Moving multiple immobile or slow summons across large maps is a constant struggle. Leveling and Perks Level 3 Milestone: This is where many builds "turn on," particularly when you gain access to more efficient transfer cards and powerful summons like the Arcing Generator. High Level Power: At level 8 and 9, the class becomes significantly smoother and more "nova-capable," with the Sledge Driver (Level 9) providing a massive health pool and damage output. Perks: Prioritize perks that thin the attack modifier deck or add utility. If playing with a focus on elements, look for perks that help with consumption or generation. If you actually wanted a class guide for The best item builds specifically for the Tank or Ranged playstyles. How to handle the Mastery challenges for this class. Which part of the H.I.V.E. The Hive often has loot on the ground or dropped by enemies. At first glance, the Hive appears to be a standard summoner. It has a low health pool (6 at Level 1), mediocre hand size (10 cards), and relies on tokens to deal damage. However, this is a trap. The Hive is distinct from Gloomhaven’s Summoner or Frosthaven’s Boneshaper in three critical ways: The Hive’s unique mechanic, "The Hive" (its persistent loss card), allows you to place a summoning token on any empty hex within range. This token is the womb of your army. Every turn, you can use a bottom action to "Spawn" a basic Summon adjacent to that token. This forces a tempo decision: Do you move the token forward to advance your front line, or do you keep it safe to breed a critical number of attackers? The Hive has two mortal enemies: area damage and fast allies. A single Flame Demon’s explosion can wipe your entire swarm. Always bring a card like Burrow (bottom) to move summons out of blast zones. Communicate with your party’s Spellweaver or Blinkblade—ask them to focus high-splash enemies before you deploy your swarm. Conversely, the Hive loves the Banner Spear (who can form formations around your summons), the Boneshaper (double summoner synergy overwhelms scenario balance), and any class that provides Strengthen (blessed summon attacks are devastating). Avoid pairing with the Trap class unless you enjoy frustration—your summons will trip every trap on the map. Instructions for proper installation of the dll and the help files are included in the readme.txt located in the main installation directory. The readme.txt in the samples folder contains the information above. Developers using wiaaut.dll are granted license to freely redistribute the library with their application as detailed in the redist.txt file inside the zip. (Only this dll is listed in this file, so don't overwrite your VB directory's redist.txt with this file!) This file is provided by VBnet as a service to developers. Any support issues for this product should not be sent to VBnet. Download Microsoft Windows Image Acquisition Library v2.0 (520k) |

| Comments |
| If the file 'gdiplus.dll' is installed on a Windows 2000 machine but not properly registered, calls to wiaaut.dll (the imaging dll) will not work. After registering gdiplus.dll calls to wiaaut should succeed. |
