Even if you never get P.D. Sharma’s PDF, follow this roadmap:
Step 1: Start with NCERT Class 12 Biology (Units 4 – Ecology) – free download from ncert.nic.in. Every major city and most colleges have libraries
Step 2: Read Shankar IAS Environment book (available as a free PDF from many telegram channels – though legally ambiguous; better to buy the 6th edition at ~300 INR).
Step 3: Make current affairs notes from Down To Earth magazine (free articles online) and The Hindu’s “In-depth” environment section. Visit books
Step 4: Solve previous 10 years’ UPSC Prelims environment questions. You’ll notice repeated themes – ozone depletion, endangered species, Acts.
Step 5: For Mains, practice value addition – cite data from India’s Biennial Update Reports (BURs) to UNFCCC. or the Environment Protection Act.
Visit books.google.com and search for “Ecology and Environment P.D. Sharma.” Often, publishers allow a 10-20% preview – enough to cover key topics like nutrient cycles, food chains, or the Environment Protection Act.
