Sometimes, you cannot use the automatic sync. This might happen if your firewall is in an "air-gapped" environment (no direct internet access), if you are setting up a replacement unit, or if the automatic sync is failing due to a connectivity error.
In this scenario, you must download the key from the WatchGuard support site and upload it to the firewall manually.

For most modern WatchGuard appliances running Fireware v12.x or later, the manual download process is rarely necessary. The device is designed to "phone home" and update its own license status automatically.
How to check if it’s working:
If the status is outdated: Click the Sync button. The Firebox will connect to the WatchGuard licensing server, verify your subscription, and download the latest key file automatically.
