Unlike traditional DC narratives where heroes like Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and Supergirl operate in separate mythologies, Season 1 thrusts them into the same high school: Metropolis High. The premise is deceptively simple: these girls must balance saving the world with passing algebra, dealing with crushes, and managing their own insecurities.

The genius of the 2019 series lies in its refusal to idolize its protagonists. Wonder Woman (Diana) is earnest but socially clueless; Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) is a hyper-nerd who talks too fast; Supergirl (Kara) is an alien trying too hard to be “normal”; Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) battles crippling anxiety; and Zatanna is a drama kid who treats magic like a performance art.
