Size: ~128GB compressed

I do not include commercial ROMs. Add your own or use placeholder files.

Most versions of this image require you to overclock your Pi 4 to 2.0 GHz or higher. The image typically includes configuration files (config.txt) that expect:

Note: You will need active cooling (a fan or a heatsink case) to run this safely.

Assuming you have decided to use the Damaso 256GB RetroPie backup image, here is the exact process to get it running on your Raspberry Pi 4.

I tested the Damaso 256GB image on a Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB) with a 256GB SanDisk Extreme card and an Argon ONE case (with fan). Here is the performance breakdown:

| Console | Performance | Notes | |---------|-------------|-------| | Arcade (MAME/FBNeo) | Excellent | Most classics run flawlessly. Heavy CHD games (e.g., Killer Instinct) have minor slowdown. | | Nintendo 64 | Good | Major titles (Mario 64, Zelda OoT) run well. GoldenEye 007 has stutters – to be expected. | | PlayStation 1 | Perfect | Enhanced resolution + PGXP correction looks stunning. No audio crackling. | | Dreamcast | Very Good | Sonic Adventure 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2 run at 60 FPS. Heavy games (Shenmue) need frame skip. | | PSP (PPSSPP) | Playable | 2D games (Castlevania Dracula X) flawless. 3D games (God of War) need frameskip or overclock to 2.1GHz. | | Nintendo DS | Good via Drastic | The included Drastic emulator handles touch-heavy games well. |

Boot time: From power-on to EmulationStation menu: about 40 seconds.

Heat: Without active cooling, the Pi 4 will throttle and cause stuttering. With a fan, temps stayed at 55°C–65°C under load.
