Aspen Hysys System Requirements
Before running Setup.exe, verify:
Aspen HYSYS is Windows-native. As of V12 and later, Mac OS and Linux are not supported natively (require virtualization).
| Windows Version | Compatibility (V12 – V14.2) | | :--- | :--- | | Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise (64-bit) | Fully Supported (Version 1809 or later) | | Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise | Fully Supported | | Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022 | Supported (for remote/enterprise deployments) | | Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 | Not Supported |
Note: Home editions of Windows are not officially supported due to missing enterprise security and networking components. Aspen Hysys System Requirements
If you run rate-based distillation, column hydraulics, or parallel batch simulation, you need enterprise hardware.
| Component | HPC/Optimization Grade | | :--- | :--- | | CPU | Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6438M (32 cores total) or AMD EPYC 9354 | | RAM | 128 GB to 256 GB DDR5 ECC Reg | | Storage | RAID 10 NVMe SSDs (Read speed > 5000 MB/s) | | GPU | NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada (For Aspen Simulation Workbook 3D) | | Cooling | Liquid cooling (Closed-loop) |
The Core Paradox: HYSYS does not scale linearly with cores. A 64-core workstation may be slower than a 16-core workstation due to inter-process communication latency. For most dynamic simulations, clock speed > core count. Before running Setup
Pro Tip: If you use a MacBook Pro M3 Max, allocate 8 cores and 16GB RAM to your Windows VM and turn off "Dynamic Desktop" scaling to avoid UI lag.
Before installing Aspen HYSYS, your system usually needs the following frameworks. The installer often handles these automatically, but it is good to verify:
Aspen HYSYS is strictly a Windows-based application. Aspen HYSYS is Windows-native
Supported Operating Systems (For V14 and V12.1):
Unsupported Operating Systems:
Aspen HYSYS is CPU-intensive, but a proper GPU helps with 3D visualizations (e.g., Dynamic Depressuring, PFD views).
