In PixelSWorld 3.5.0, F-Top (often labeled as Fill Top or Fill from Top in the interface) determines how each pixel block inherits color from the source image.
Default behavior (F-Top = 0%):
Each block samples color from its center point. This creates a clean, uniform mosaic. aescripts pixelsworld 350 for after effects f top
With F-Top enabled (50%–100%):
The plugin forces each block to sample color from the top edge of its cell. Combined with animation, this produces a cascading "rain" or "falling pixels" effect, as if the image is being drawn line by line from top to bottom. In PixelSWorld 3
| Plugin | Developer | Best for | |--------|-----------|----------| | Pastiche | aescripts | Creating collages, grids, or “worlds” of resized images/videos | | Loop Flow | aescripts | Pixel array manipulations for abstract patterns | | Mosaic (built-in) | Adobe | Pixelate, but no animation control | | CC Kaleida (built-in) | Adobe | Mirror pixels in kaleidoscopic patterns | Activation: Launch After Effects
If you want to create a world made of pixels (like a Minecraft-style terrain from video frames), use Pastiche with expressions.
While PixelSWorld is a 2D sorter, version 350 introduced a Depth Map input. You can feed it a greyscale depth map (lighter = closer) and the plugin will sort pixels based on Z-depth.
To ensure you get the "Top" performance (especially regarding the F-top features), follow this installation checklist:
Effects > aescripts > PixelSWorld 350.Project Settings > Color Depth. Set to 32 bits per channel (Float) . This activates the "F Top" precision modes.
